Abstract
The subject of this research is the economic and cultural structure of the Women’s Bazaar in the city center of Konya. The economic, spatial and cultural characteristics of the bazaar, the processes of the emergence of these characteristics, the world of meaning of the artisans who are the main actors who construct these processes, and the ways in which the profession of artisanship is practiced constitute the main components of the research subject. The research was conducted in the historical Women’s Bazaar in Konya city center. The study aims to understand the sociocultural reality constructed in traditional bazaars through the eyes of the tradesmen who are the main actors of the bazaar. In line with this goal, qualitative research method was used, which allows in-depth understanding and interpretation of sociocultural reality. The interviews were analyzed with the Nvivo program and models were tried to be produced. As a result, the positioning of the women’s bazaar between tradition and modernity and the normative state that allows it to continue its existence were tried to be revealed.
