Abstract
Childhood is a very important process in terms of socialization, reflecting social change. Social change
means that socialization also changes. In the literature, the relationship of both socialization in general and child
socialization in particular with the institution of the family has been particularly emphasized. Child socialization
cannot be evaluated only through primary relationships within the family. Other agents of socialization also
influence the socialization of the child and take the process beyond primary socialization. This article analyzes
data from the Turkiye Child Survey conducted by the Turkish Statistical Institute in 2022 in a sample of Turkiye.
Data on children’s use of certain objects and tools and their kinship and friendship relationships are interpreted
in terms of their impact on the socialization process. Statistical analyses have been used to identify changing
and ongoing effects on the child’s socialization. The causal and relational patterns of change and continuity are
discussed together, taking into account the specific aspects of Turkey.
